But It’s Over Now

Love is in da blog

Goodbye February! It’s been a great month of songs while participating in Bee’s fun music challenge again. A big thanks to Bee for putting together the challenge and prompts! She shared some fab tunes too. I also a great time checking out what other players posted ~ Jim, Barbara, Di, Caramel, Cheryl, Melanie, et al.

For my last song of the February challenge, I’m sharing Roxette’s “It Must Have Been Love.” It was featured in Pretty Woman, a movie I enjoyed but didn’t love as much as other romcoms. It’s strange to me that this movie did so well at the box office ~ I guess it was the star power of the leads. (Though Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan have star power, no?) In my opinion, the Meg Ryan movies are all superior to PW. But I do like Richard Gere… and in Pretty Woman Julia Roberts isn’t as obnoxious as usual. This video is sweet and captures some good moments from the film. Hope you like it! 😘

My World Is Blue

Love is in da blog

Happy February! I’m participating in Bee’s fun music challenge again and hope you’ll join in (you don’t have to play every day).

Today’s theme is a love song with color. The colorful songs I had in mind weren’t love songs, but then I was playing with my grey kitty and “Love Is Blue” popped into my head. I should have thought of it first ~ it’s perfect! I found an Andy Williams version I liked, though it’s depressing too.

When The Leaves…

Happy February! I’m participating in Bee’s fun music challenge again and hope you’ll join in (you don’t have to play every day).

Today’s theme is a love song in autumn. Since the only one I could think of was “November Rain,” I went searching. Found this absolute gem by Van Morrison called “When The Leaves Come Falling Down.” Hope you enjoy it too! ❤️

Take A Little Time…

Love is in da blog

Happy February! I’m participating in Bee’s fun music challenge again and hope you’ll join in (you don’t have to play every day).

Today’s theme is a love song that charted in the top 10. Foreigner’s “I Want To Know What Love Is” hit #1 for a couple weeks in February 1985. I’ve always thought these lyrics were perfect: I want to know what love is… and I want you to show me. How I’ve wanted that kind of relationship in my life! Two people mutually deciding they don’t know what love is, haven’t really ever experienced it fully yet, and will learn from each other. But I’ve only ever met arrogant men who thought they already knew what love was and were gonna show me. Pffft.

Hey Girl Whatcha Doing?

Love is in da blog

Happy February! I’m participating in Bee’s fun music challenge again and hope you’ll join in (you don’t have to play every day).

Today’s theme is a pop song about love and I’m sharing a Dawn tune. “Knock Three Times” was a pop hit back in 1971 and given a lot of airtime. It was not credited to Tony Orlando & Dawn, according to Wikipedia, because that group hadn’t formed yet (with the “Dawn” we know as Thelma Hopkins and Joyce Vincent Wilson). Tony Orlando was working for a rival music company and tried to fly under the radar by recording this song with the other musicians as Dawn. It hit Billboard’s #1 in the US and other countries too.

Indianapolis

Happy February! I’m participating in Bee’s fun music challenge again and hope you’ll join in (you don’t have to play every day).

Today’s theme is a love song containing a location. Apparently that was my brilliant idea… and then I had trouble thinking of one. 🙄 But happily I remembered “Little Green Apples” with Indianapolis in it! I did not realize there were so many great covers… well, I like O.C. Smith’s. His voice sounds super sincere and loving. ❤️

One Summer Never Ends

Love is in da blog

Happy February! I’m participating in Bee’s fun music challenge again and hope you’ll join in (you don’t have to play every day).

Today’s theme is a love song in summer. I’ve always loved “Suddenly Last Summer” by the Motels (also a movie with Elizabeth Taylor), but it took on new significance in 2016. I haven’t written much about that on here; even now it’s not only still incredibly painful, but also I write and write and yet the things I meant to say somehow have eluded me. Very strange. I have written a lot of oblique poetry about the situation, which works better. Pure emotion, less concrete explanation.

But I have a couple things in draft. Puzzle pieces to help me glue my mind together a little more securely. For now, here’s this…

With Nets Of Wonder

Love is in da blog

Happy February! I’m participating in Bee’s fun music challenge again and hope you’ll join in (you don’t have to play every day).

Today’s theme is a love song from when we started school ~ I assume kindergarten. For me, this was 1966 and there were a ton of love songs around. I’m choosing a sweet fave by Bob Lind: “Bright Elusive Butterfly of Love.” 🦋

I guess it could be viewed a bit stalkerish by today’s standards, just like “Every Breath You Take,” and lots of romcoms too. What’s up with Harry leaving all those messages on Sally’s answering machine anyway? She told him to get lost!

Why Do You…

Love is in da blog

Happy February! I’m participating in Bee’s fun music challenge again and hope you’ll join in (you don’t have to play every day).

Today’s theme is a love song with flowers and I’m sharing one of my old faves. While the tempo is upbeat, the message is rather frustrating, with one person putting all the effort into the relationship and the other one acting selfishly. Isn’t that so often the way though? You always hope that things will change if you just keep trying…

The Last Farewell

Love is in da blog

Happy February! I’m participating in Bee’s fun music challenge again and hope you’ll join in (you don’t have to play every day).

Today’s theme is a love song regarding a breakup and here’s “The Last Farewell” by Roger Whittaker. This song always brings me to tears; it’s about a separation that no one seems to want. That feels unbearably sad to me, when it’s so difficult to find love in the first place.
