Ways of Waiting

We both wait for the ship that never comes.

Flowers in hand, I stare at the bright waves until my eyes grow tired of the promise of an elusive future and my focus turns to memories.

You have no worries about the days ahead as you prance in the foam, dedicating yourself to each moment, thrilled to find a clam.

Silent Siren

Siren on the rocks at sunset

The silent siren sits alone, her seductive song long lost to the ravages of time and salt.

“Yes, sweetie, that’s why we got the reduced rates–it’s their hog bathing week,” Randy explained.

Seagull [TLT]

I watched you as you walked away, that cold grey rainy foggy day.

You didn’t even turn and wave, as your footsteps faded from this hollow place.

Then a ray of sun cut through the mist and one seagull came swooping in; underneath her wings the sea began to sparkle brightly once again.
