Tranquil [3LT]

Her beauty serene, she drifts in a dream, in the tranquil sea of grey-blue-green.

Oblivious to the struggles all around, she paddles on, night and dawn, with nothing bringing her down.

While the fighters fight and the plotters plot, she lightly dips her head and brings up a fish she caught.

Blackbird Moon [TLT]

Blackbird moon

They say it comes every seventh June in the shadows of the blackbird moon.

Angels [TLT]

Blonde woman white horse

I met them in a dream, the blonde woman with a white horse, and their impossible, ethereal beauty stayed with me of course.

Traveling the world, I kept them in mind, as I searched every exotic locale I could find.

When I returned, they were waiting for me, these angels from the stars, near my own apple tree.

Mint & Ivy [TLT]

Leafy archway

When I go to meet him, singing angels guide me through an archway of mint and ivy.

He sees me and his smile warms the night as his eyes shine like a thousand stars.

I completely forget he’s a married man in a stale room at a cheap motel.

Ways of Waiting

We both wait for the ship that never comes.

Flowers in hand, I stare at the bright waves until my eyes grow tired of the promise of an elusive future and my focus turns to memories.

You have no worries about the days ahead as you prance in the foam, dedicating yourself to each moment, thrilled to find a clam.

One Night [TLT]

They walked hand-in-hand among the fragrant lilac fields, declaring their love forevermore.

Entwined together in a sated embrace, they slept beneath the moon’s adoring gaze.

I don’t mind that she broke my heart.

And I don’t care if she left for good.

But I wish she hadn’t stolen my bicycle!

Silent Siren

Siren on the rocks at sunset

The silent siren sits alone, her seductive song long lost to the ravages of time and salt.

Yet the one she waits for hears the melody of her aching heart and sails toward those jagged rocks.

He arrives under a storm-bruised sky, the sea swirling in confusion, only to find the dream he followed was a dark illusion.

Street of Dreams

Man walking alone at night in the city

He’d come in the summer seeking stardom and excitement.

He found a job in a diner on the night shift.

It was a cold Christmas and he locked up for the last time, a train ticket home in his pocket.
