Doing An Investigate [fffc]

Of all the PI offices in all the world, she had to walk into mine. A cloud of Chanel No. 5 surrounded her as she leaned over my desk, blew smoke in my face, and said, “I need something investigated. Desperately.”

“Lady, I gotta tell you,” I told her, trying to ignore her lush looks and focus on the matter at hand. “This is a non-smoking building.”

She leaned closer and asked in that husky voice, “Are you gonna call the police?” Still, she put out the cigarette, sauntered around the side of my desk, and sat on my lap.

“This feels like a one-man job.” I began to unbutton her jacket. “What did you want me to investigate?”

“I think my bra is a counterfeit.” She slid out of her jacket, flung it on my desk, and removed the lace and silk confection so I could make a thorough assessment.

Later, as we restored our clothing to its proper state, she said, “Hurry up, honey. I want to get home in time to read Alex his bedtime story, and you promised to help Mandy with her math.”

“OK.” I locked up and we walked out to the parking lot. As I followed my wife home, I noticed her right taillight was out and made a note to myself to replace it this weekend.
