In Memory of My Dad

dad

Color him father:
Use the crayon of kindness,
Generosity and humor.
He loved reading the news,
Doing crossword puzzles too,
And he sure had a sweet tooth!
If he were still around,
I’d bake his favorite fudge brownies
For his birthday next month–
He would have been ninety-three.
My father’s eyes were like mine:
Hazel and tired
From reading late into the night
When we should have been asleep.
A song for Dad
Would be from the Doors
Or maybe Bette Midler,
The Beatles or Swan Lake–
He had eclectic tastes.
I miss you, Dad;
You were a good one,
And I love you so much.
