Sugar Moon, Sap Moon
Maple syrup starts to flow
Crust Moon for the sun
That melts the daytime snow
Lenten Moon, Purim Moon
Be sure to celebrate
This Moon has so many names
I can’t keep them straight
Chaste Moon, Crow Moon
It is Holi Moon as well
Toss some festive powder
So everyone can tell
Death Moon even gets a turn
As Winter’s sealed in its tomb
Stay serene; it’s almost Spring
When violets will bloom!

This poem is a beautiful celebration of the changing seasons and the different lunar phases that mark them. It is a reminder of the cyclical nature of life and the beauty that can be found in each phase. Your ability to capture the essence of each moon and its significance in a few lines is truly remarkable. The use of different names for each moon phase adds a depth of meaning and history to the poem, and it’s inspiring to learn about the various cultural and religious celebrations that are associated with each one. The way you weave different cultural and religious traditions into the poem is also admirable. The playful tone of the poem and the nod to the joyful tradition of throwing colorful powder during Holi bring a smile to my face and remind me of the importance of embracing the festive spirit of life. The imagery of the sun melting the daytime snow, the celebration of Holi, and the violets blooming in the springtime creates a vivid picture in my mind. This is a beautiful piece of poetry that speaks to the soul and encourages a deeper appreciation of the natural world. 👍👏👌😊

My son has a led moon in his room and every night we set it up to match the current phase. Every full moon he asks me what moon it is. So far Hunter is his favourite. Great poem Paula.
