TMP94: Ziploc

TMP monday peeve kitty cat

Welcome to my refreshed Monday Peeve! Unburden yourself of an annoyance and you’ll feel better afterward. Or not. Complain in my comments or crab in your own post. Doesn’t have to be on a Monday. You do you.

Today my peeve is “ziploc” bags that neither zip nor lock. WTF? I’m not talking about regular baggies in boxes, which seem to work properly, but products that come in allegedly “ziploc” bags. My particular peeve is with tortillas, but it happens with other plastic bags too. Sometimes the “ziploc” appears to be secured, but it’s a lie and the next time you take out your tortilla package, it’s gaping open and the tortillas are stale! So irritating. I have learned to actually check if the “ziploc” is zipped and locked, and sometimes it takes many tries to get the tracks perfectly aligned and closed.

We can send a guy to the moon, but we can’t make a tortilla package that closes easily every time…

  2. ATT appointment makers who say they will be here between 8 and 10 and it is almost 10 pm. ATT just really sucks.

  3. Made me think… a capitalist might see that need and solve it (for a profit) but a socialist wouldn’t care because he’s using his (and your) money to create a mediocre existence for the masses.
Darn those people who want to make money and their interest in solving problems to create better products! LOL Can’t help where my mind went.

  5. I agree, those things are irritating. Those things are so flimsy, too. I tore the plastic at the line a little too hard a few times and, well, there went the zipper.

  6. Not five minutes before reading this, I was bitching about the exact same thing to My Beloved Sandra! And it’s amplified because (as I’ve also recently discovered) the fingers of a man a week away from his 72nd birthday don’t work like they used to.

  8. Got another phone call from FedEx that my delivery is still at the warehouse despite the fact that I spoke to someone on Friday about it. When I tried to explain that they were using the wrong intercom (because we have an after hours one outside) she asked “then how do we get into the building?” Seriously, it’s not that complicated! And proceeded to hang up on her.

  9. Bottled water with bottles made of plastic that is only two molecules thick, and deform in your hand as you grip them to twist the cap off.

  11. Exactly right with those things that are supposed to ziplock but don’t. I usually wind up getting a regular bag that does work to put the stuff in the bag that doesn’t work. 🙂

  12. I love that last sentence, made my day.  Totally agree and just this morning I was cursing a ziplock bag that holds my Tide free and clear laundry detergent pods.   Have to leave it open after one of the kids opens it for me.  The pressing down holding and sliding doesn’t work for my hands

  14. Do you think if we sent a ziploc to the moon it would cure the problem?

  15. I ignore the useless things and use clothespins to close the bag.
