Welcome to my refreshed Monday Peeve! Unburden yourself of an annoyance and you’ll feel better afterward. Or not. Complain in my comments or crab in your own post. Doesn’t have to be on a Monday. You do you.
I confess that I’m over 60 years old and still have not figured out how to wear my hair. I know, right? But it’s true. I’ve tried several styles and none seem to “work” consistently for me. I’ve had short hair and long hair, bangs, no bangs, layers, no layers, etc., and I have yet to discover the right one for me ~ “right” meaning that it makes me happy when I look in the mirror or see a photo of myself. So I default back to high school and wear it long(ish) and plain. The only difference is that I now part it slightly on the left rather than exactly in the middle, since side parts are more flattering for thin faces. Oh, and another difference is I’m much greyer now, lol.
The main issue for me is I can’t maintain a consistent look. Yesterday, for instance, my hair ended up so flat and meh after my shower/drying I was tempted to make an appointment for a chop; yet today it looks really good! Idk why some days it’s nice and fluffy and other days limp and icky. It doesn’t seem to make a diff whether I let it dry naturally or blow-dry it a bit. I use the same products on it daily. Either way, it is unpredictably flat or joyously fluffy. Maybe it’s the weather, though yesterday’s weather was similar to today’s. This is so frustrating when other women seem to effortlessly find a good style and stick with it.
I dare you to come up with a more trivial peeve than mine. Don’t forget to link back!

My hair has gotten thinner 😱 I always had very cooperative hair. It did what I wanted it to do. I don’t know if it’s cuz of meds or menopause, but my hair now lives in a bun on top of my head🤷🏼♀️ I keep thinking maybe I should just buzz it short and dye it purple, pink, and blue🤷🏼♀️
My trivial peeve would be people with hiccups. It’s not like they can help it, but it drives me Bonkers! Go away and come back when you’ve got it under control. 🤯🤯
I think that started with Younger having hiccups in utero every night when I was trying to sleep. So annoying! 😡😤

Ugh! I hate having hiccups! My hair is thinner too. Boo 😒

My hair is a lot greyer than it was a few years ago, but I wear it long with no parting and leave that to sort itself out. I trim it myself every two or three months by brushing it all forward and snipping off the raggedy ends. It works for me. It’s easy to manage as when I had short hair, I had to blow dry it or tong it, to make it look presentable every day. When I had the curly perms (you stink of twink kinda thing), then it was easier still as I’d just dampen my hands and run my fingers through it.

I like perms… but I got tired of them. I hear you on short hair because it really does need to be styled, while long hair can just “be” 🙂

If I wanted to have my hair permed now, because it’s so long, I understand they charge by the inch. Mine is about 20 inches so I’m looking at a lot of money!!

I’ve never understood the whole perm obsession, or the big hair phenomenon of the 80s. I loved Asian hair, that beautiful straight shiny stylish look I could never muster with my thick, long, wavy hair…

For those of us with baby fine hair, a perm was a nice way to have full, fluffy hair every day! I like straight hair only if it’s super thick…

My hair has a natural wave in it, even now. The ‘curly perm’ suited me as I was working but as it grew out, I had to spend a lot of time on my hair. It’s easy now as it’s long so I can tie it back or pin it up. I’m hoping to be able to sit on it, but it’s only just above my waist at the moment.

I found a miracle product that reliably worked for my hair with basically no effort: Redken NBD air dry cream. (I am super lazy about blow drying) Seriously, first time I used this product, I later looked at myself in shitty public restroom lighting, and my hair looked so amazing I just about fell in love with my own reflection. 🥰
This sounds like a TGIF comment, right? Well, Redken discontinued it. 😠That’s my Monday Peeve.

I was getting ready to go buy it! So annoying when they discontinue good things. I loved Nexus Humectress when it was a leave-in conditioner, but they turned it into a wash-out one 😞

I’m currently having a great hair day/week so I’m not going to jinx it. 🤪
But this isn’t always so. 🤷♀️

I hear ya. Enjoy it while it lasts! 😀

I am the same way! I always want a short cut but the times in life I have done that I look horrible! I have my hair long because then I can put it up. But then, why do I have to put it up everyday? I try different shades when I color my hair, different styles…I think one of the biggest things with me is that I don’t spend time on my hair. I used to spend the time either with a curling iron or a flat iron. Now I blowdry quick and I’m done. However it turns out is how it turns out.

Yep, same! Don’t want to spend time… just want it to effortlessly look good 😂

Long hair is nice. Mine is shoulder length, I like it, but I used to have very long hair when I was younger. X

I finally quit dying my hair and let it do whatever it wants. It’s long and fine and thin and straight, and streaked with gray. Whee! Freedom from worrying about it.
Here’s a real trivial peeve – not even worthy of a post about it. We follow the Kansas City Chiefs football team/games. They are super at playing and winning! But sometimes the TV network stops showing it before it’s all finished, to show some other game. I get mad because I want to see it to the end, even if we already know they are going to win. Grrr – haha 🙂

Ooh! That would annoy me too. I always want to see the credits after a movie as well 🙂

I do have a more trivial one…a makeup bag that is not flat on the bottom so constantly falls over. Funny thing is this morning I was standing it up again and thought of you and the peeve😂

My pet peeve today is having dry air around you. The kind that makes your nose feel stuffy but you can’t blow it because it’s bone dry. It’s not the worst thing on earth, and only is bothersome every few hours for about 2 seconds, but it’s a peeve that is petting me today.

Gotcha. The air is super dry here too and my skin is all flaky 🙁

Ordinarily I could probably top you in trivial peeves but right now the peeve that plagues my mind is a monster so I’ll have to give you this one.

Sorry to hear ~ if you want to write about it and link back, that would be cool 🙂

I kinda have been lightly in poetry but just don’t want to get to deep.

I’m so with you, Paula. I too have never managed to find a n acceptable style for my fine, now thin straight hair. Recently I was sort of ‘happy’ with my shoulder length bob until after getting COVID in August, it started to shed alarmingly on the right side of my head and I now have lots of new short hairs there, which won’t lay down with their longer mates. It’s driving me hairless. 😱

That would disturb me as well!

Hair is never trivial. If you have it, it’s nice if it is cut so it looks good on you. It’s also nice if the cut doesn’t require 10 years experience as a stylist and two hours’ effort daily.
