Today Jim Adams, host of Song Lyric Sunday, asks us to find a song with a recognizable intro. So many to choose from! I decided to go with the Bob Seger classic “Old Time Rock & Roll.”
Just take those old records off the shelf
I’ll sit and listen to ’em by myself
Today’s music ain’t got the same soul
I like that old time rock ‘n’ roll
Don’t try to take me to a disco
You’ll never even get me out on the floor
In ten minutes I’ll be late for the door
I like that old time rock ‘n’ roll
This song was written by George Jackson and Thomas E. Jones with uncredited lyrics from Bob Seger. It was recorded in 1979 for Seger’s album Stranger in Town” and also released as a single. The song reached No. 28 on Billboard Hot 100. In 1983, it was featured in the film Risky Business, which renewed its popularity. Enjoy!

Haha, who doesn’t? I wonder if that song would be so popular if it wasn’t attached to Tom Cruise sliding by in his underwear!

It is hard to beat Bob Seger singing and Tom Cruise dancing in his underwear, nice choice Paula.

Oddly, the title song to Stranger In Town has never been released. Something about Billy Joel’s The Stranger coming out the same year.
