Suit Weather

bubble translucent

The first October frost
Hardens the garden
Ground too cold for a spade

Halloween candy heart
Crisp chocolate shell
Green gummy worm inside

Cool symmetrical tiles
Scrabble club reject
Letters dance on the board

Ghosted at Thanksgiving
Diamond cut voice
Pumpkin pie crust has burned

She learns to be alone
Playing cards online
These suits won’t let her down

  2. The fact that the pumpkin pie came burnt made me sad. Such short and sweet poems! Thanks for sharing, Paula. Would be glad if you can check out my blog and share your comments. Have a good day. :))

  3. Great job. You really nailed the stanzas seeming unrelated until they all come together in the end. I love it ❤ ❤ ❤

  4. Excellent – each stanza evocative of its own theme and the last stanza gives a whole new perspective to the ones that went before!!

  8. Paula, if you accept, I nominate you to be the next Poet of the Week. As always, all of the entries were wonderful, and it’s hard to choose a favorite, but this one spoke to me on a very personal level ❤

  14. At least the green worm was only gummy. I hope she doesn’t always have to play cards alone online
