So Annoyed

Lion roar

I am so annoyed with WP that I downloaded their stupid idiot app again! For a while now, everything has been more difficult while composing posts on my phone. I know this is deliberate on the part of WP because they had to choose these changes, and they did. The recent annoyances are not random glitches ~ and note how WP never fixes anything we ask for!

Today’s issue was links. Suddenly, it became impossible to create a link in a post (from my phone), due to the link toolbox popping up off the GD page! Finally, I signed out and deleted my cookies, thinking somehow I had done something wrong, messed up a setting, or whatever. Signed back in and… nope! Off the page. I mean, honestly why the eff would they do this???

Everything about these blocks has been a pain in the ass, and this latest idiocy is no different. Already, it’s easier using the app, though I do so under protest. Let that be noted for the record! The reason I quit using the app previously is because it effed up my images. We shall see how it goes now.

It would take so little to get me to switch back to Blogger; unfortunately, I’d miss the WP community too much.

  1. I appreciate what you are saying Paula. I’m still using WP Classic Editor, however, I can no longer include surveys in my blog post since they don’t work with Classic Editor (there is a work around, but I found it easier to just drop surveys). I wonder if people are really asking for these updates or if someone is just trying to justify their salary by coming up with these updates.

  2. I wonder if that’s browser-specific. I just tried it in Safari on my phone, and I was able to slide the toolbar over to get the link thingy.

  5. I wrote to them… it’s there…. BUT… I found it… turn your phone sideways…. it’s there….

But even better… type your text to be linked and then select it. Copy the link and paste onto the text… it will be linked. (I found that out accidentally! ha

Hope this helps, but yeah… aggravating for sure!!

  6. Don’t go to blogger Paula. We love you here and most of us are putting up with WP because of the community

  7. Paula, I’m using the iOS app rather than using a browser (e.g., Chrome or Safari), and I’m not having any issues with creating links.

  9. And just to compound your misery, the notification email for this post was sent to my junk folder, not my inbox, which is why it has taken until today for me to find it. Have you done something to upset the WP gods, by any chance? 🤣

  10. Too bad the there is the issue of “the community” inside WP, or Blogger. It’s like Beta and VHS, iPhone and Android, all things that the marketing departments have decided to make proprietary, and in the process have created groups, with some exclusivity built into the process. I’m wondering if this is part of a larger strategy. I shouldn’t have to join WP in order to participate in the fun and games! (I did, though, to make commenting easier.)

    • What confuses me is WHY WordPress wants to make it more difficult for hobby users to navigate Blogland when many of them PAY! Maybe it’s simply an unfortunate side effect of their nonstop tweaking for biz bloggers? But it makes no sense to alienate paying customers…

      • Possibly you’re just wrong in assuming that they know what they’re doing. They might just be stupid. Programming is such a narrow specialty I sometimes wonder if it’s a bit too removed from executive decision making about the actual product.
