Candle in the Wind

marilyn monroe

This is a good time to talk about Marilyn Monroe, another woman who was mocked and harassed, and possibly worse, due to her relationships with bad men (yes, him too, in the relationship department). What is it about us that we have to build people up just to trash them and kick them down? Women especially get this treatment, and often it’s from other women. Jealousy? Maybe. We see it over and over again, and lately it’s another blonde celeb who is being subjected to nonstop mockery and insults, much of it apparently funded by the rightwing (see this article from Vice), and who do I see jumping upon this bandwagon of abuse? Other women for the most part. It’s really sad. Why would the right care about this ridiculous he said/she said circus about who pooped in whose bed? Hmm, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that a particular political party has decided now is a good time to step up their trolling of women when the SCOTUS seems poised to take away our reproductive rights. Sisters! Stop siding with the oppressors! Don’t leave your “believe women” sign at the dock when a charming pirate beckons you onto his ship ~ remember, JD is an actor.

Please remember my comment policy and post your disagreements elsewhere.

Anyway, This is all for Jim’s Thursday Inspiration ~ see how he inspired me to go on a massive rant? Well done, Mr. Adams! I present Elton John’s lovely tribute song to the beautiful and talented Ms. Monroe: “Candle in the Wind.”

  1. Marilyn Monroe had a tough life, and her struggles are very commendable, because she became such a success. Nice use of the prompt word Paula.

  2. I am very glad I remain ignorant of what’s going on with the JD circus. I’m quite happy to live in my little cave.

  3. AH is an actor also, IIRC?

  4. My stance from the beginning was… no one knows for sure but him & her. Daughter is watching the trial, so I’m getting info whether I want it or not. Ben loves JD movies and characters.
Cancel Culture is brutal, and people should be VERY sure their information is correct before they result to those tactics!

If he’s guilty, he’s paid for it in the court of public opinion, and with the career hit. If she lied, shame on her for casting doubt on other survivors of DV, myself being one.

Beyond that, IDGAF! I’ve got enough of my own problems TYVM.

    I love Sir Elton!!🎶

    • Right, we don’t know, and as usual we base our opinions on propaganda or whether someone’s tears appear real, etc. We do have some facts however and those are the text messages. His are brutal…

      ELTON IS AWESOME!!!

  6. I so agree with you, Paula.

I suppose all kinds of factors come into play, but meanness tops the list. How can anyone feel good when a woman is trashed like that? How can they pile on and feel anything but awful about it?

I was so mad and upset, thank goodness you ended your post with a beautiful tribute song that I’ve always loved. 🥰

  7. The irony is, the more and more people made meme’s about it. The more and more people went “Is this right”?

  8. Love the song & pretty much all EJ songs.
But, I have no idea what you’re talking about – something in the news? (which I don’t really watch any)

  9. I’ve been avoiding articles about this particular kerfuffle, but I just looked and, wow, what a bunch of stupid sh*t. Seriously, what is wrong with people? And to co-opt a ridiculous issue like this into political dialog is totally wack-o.
