Limbo

dragon

They tell me not to focus
On the loss,
That ghost silhouette
Of the tragically missing;
It’s nothing but smoke
And shadowed what-iffing.
This is a phase, they say,
Merely a stage,
Like giving up meat,
Painting pet rocks,
And sporting black lipstick.
If only I would take
The first baby step
On the invisible road,
The road should appear
Naturally like magic.
I begin to believe them;
Even now I might possibly
Sense a cool wind,
The briefest of breezes,
Fresh air from somewhere,
Invading this limbo.
