TMP25: Cardigans

TMP monday peeve kitty cat

Welcome to my refreshed Monday Peeve! Unburden yourself of an annoyance and you’ll feel better afterward. Or not. Complain in my comments or crab in your own post. Doesn’t have to be on a Monday. You do you.

Today I share a fashion peeve. I love sweaters and I especially love cardigans because they can be layered. Well, they HAVE to be layered if they don’t have buttons, amirite? I’ve may have complained about this before, but so what… since my refresh I’ve decided I can re-peeve old peeves since they aren’t on my site now (and don’t get me started about the creepy Wayback Machine). Anywho, buttons? What the hell ever happened to buttons? Is there a shortage? Did crows carry them all off to decorate their nests? WHAT??? Why are all the cardigans open-front? And those old-lady clippy things don’t work either ~ I bought three and they’re cute, but they’re only for show. They don’t keep the cardi closed. The sides flop around sloppily all day. So annoying.

Check back next Monday for more GRRRR. Until then, stay chill, my friends.

  2. I never really thought about it but you are right. All of the cardigans I’ve seen on the sites I buy from are all open.

  4. There must be a shortage. I wish buttons would make a return too.

  6. I wanted a zip up sweatshirt and found the same problem! I couldn’t find a sweatshirt that wasn’t a pullover and I couldn’t find a sweater that could close!

  8. I love button cardigans, and l am not a huge fan of those without buttons, l have one of the latter, and half dozen button pieces. I usually find great button cardigans in secondhand shops, mostly l see a lot of ‘zip up cardigans’, which shouldn’t be called cardi’s but apparently are although sometimes they are called zipper jackets or zip throughs, BUT they are nothing to a great baggy button cardi 🙂

  9. I buy cardigans in England and they always seem to have buttons. Thank Goodness! The twin set is my favorite with a short sleeved wool top and then a buttoned cardigan on top of that. Old school I know but I am old enough to be old school!🤣

  10. What kills me are cardigans where the buttons come off. It’s so frustrating to have a cardigan with buttons, and then the buttons break or come off.
