Footsteps of the Mind [repost]

empty church

She pauses at a post,
Lost in a vast cavern;
Shapes form and melt
In the yellowing haze
Of ancient lanterns.
Familiar faces nod in passing,
Eyes downcast,
Hurrying to an assignation.
Will they meet again
In a hall of mirrors,
Or is this the final destination?
She gathers fragments
Of her scattered thoughts
As echoes come and ghost
‘Round the cracking halls…
Footsteps of the mind.

  11. I was gonna comment the other day, but we’d been discussing fishing for compliments, and I didn’t want to get it confused with that — but, damn this is good, and explains why I buy every single one of your poetry books.

    And this from a guy who normally gets hives when exposed to poetry….
