Inauguration Week Share

Bitmoji world

Melanie starts our week off right with a new set of Q’s…

1. Why do we dream?

I consider it a data dump… to get rid of all the bits and pieces of broken code that float around our minds.

2. Do you think a person’s name influences the person they become?

3. Does hardship make a person stronger? (example: What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger)

Sometimes. Being a lonely child forced me to find ways to enjoy things by myself, which turns out to be a strength. I’m glad I’m not needy for companionship. But hardship can also make you more fragile, like if you were deprived of proper nutrition or medical care…

3. Why do we judge ourselves by our intentions, but judge others by their actions?

Because we are all hypocrites! But seriously it makes survival sense to favor oneself and one’s family over others. I don’t actually see a problem with this most of the time, at least in public. Engage in berating yourself or your spouse in the privacy of your home…

4. GRATITUDE SECTION (Always Optional) Feel free to share some gratitude in the form of images, photos or writing. Thanks!

  1. Gorgeous beach picture!
Dreams are only a Data Dump? You don’t think our subconscious wrestles with ideas or dilemmas during dreams? Not Freud, but Jung style?
    Not judging, just curious.

  3. I agree that our name doesn’t influence who we become, but I wonder if it influences how other people treat you. If your name was Bertha, would the world treat you differently than if your name was Apple?

I agree with you on dreams. Our brains accumulate so much unnecessary data during the day, they’ve got to purge it at some point.

  4. Thanks. Paula for Sharing Your World. I was reading your comments and wondered who would tease or bully anyone named “Paula”? I knew a kid named “Bart” when I was a child, and that kid? GOT TEASED. I always thought my own name was ‘tease free’ because it didn’t really rhyme with anything unsavory. My husband found the chink in that armor and I threatened him with actual death if he ever told anyone. Obviously, you’ve overcome and done it well, so there’s that! Have a great week!

    • Thank you! There was a group of mean girls in middle school who called me “palsy” and would jerk their arms and legs when they saw me. I knew they were idiots, but still…

      • There are ALWAYS ‘mean girls’ (who grow up to be bitchy women IMO). I’ve often thought that it would have been satisfying to whiz back in time for a moment or two and tell those witches a few home truths from an adult perspective.
