She wasn’t too fussed
To spend her birthday alone;
A friend sent a greeting
With hearts from her phone.
She wasn’t upset
She had no one to date;
She lit her own candle,
Watched the flame undulate.
She wasn’t disturbed
By the tear in her eye—
This smoky night air
Could make anyone cry.

Very nicely done Paula, simplicity itself, but penned well and covering a simple yet honest emotion.
