Her mood’s not so buoyant
When the existential dread
Creeps across her fertile mind
As she lay silent in her bed.
She feels deep underwater
And overwhelmed by the tide
Of impending crash disasters
She conjures up inside.
Reading morning news
Jeopardizes peaceful day,
Replaces hope with hurt,
Strips serenity away.

  1. I agree with you about the news, especially if I pay attention to it in the morning.

  3. Yes, the news does make you feel underwater, as if you’re drowning. I can wait until January 20th because, if Trump loses, and I hope he will, I think the period between November 3rd and January 20th will be chaotic.

  4. This is such a good description of the depression, the loss of serenity and the despair that must be affecting a lot of people with the Pandemic and the state of politics, elections etc etc etc. You have captured it well.
