HallChall21: Decoration

Halloween decoration

When my girls were little, I used to love decorating for Halloween and other special events. But over the years that impulse faded until now when I don’t do anything at all. Usually I decorate my office a bit, but due to the plague no one comes in so I haven’t bothered.

I guess I was doing it for other people then? I never thought about that until writing this post. Why shouldn’t I decorate for myself, if it makes me happy? The thing is… it doesn’t. My pleasure in decorating for holidays comes only from sharing it with others who appreciate it.

  2. It’s funny Paula – i dont like decorating if its only for us. But strangely, I am finding Halloween fun this year whereas i never did before. Maybe i am in need of some fun in the midst of plague and lockdown! I am not decorating though!

  4. Pretty much same for me. It was much more fun when the girls were little. I sometimes put a few decorations on the porch, or in the house, but not this year.

  5. I agree, holidays and decorations are not the same without family and/or friends to share them with.

  6. Yep! I’m the same way. I’d get a little Charlie Brown Christmas tree every year but the girls demand a big 6′ tree. Ben likes the holidays but doesn’t get excited like the girls did when they were little.
    It’s all just a hassle to me.🤷🏼‍♀️
I like doing nice things and giving people gifts, but I do that all year, whenever I see something they’d like.

  7. I like lights so I decorate a bit for Christmas while home alone. I don’t decorate for other holidays.
