The Monday Peeve 57

Smiles and positive posts are all well and good, but sometimes I need to vent a bit. How about you? That’s what The Monday Peeve is all about, a chance to blow off a little steam at the beginning of the week, so then we can go merrily on our way once again (hah). I’ll pick a topic that’s on my mind, but you can vent about whatever you please, here in comments or on your own blog. Grab the photo, use the TMP tag, link back to me (or not), and Bob’s yer uncle. I do reserve the right to delete any links that offend my delicate sensibilities. So far, none have, but it could happen. I have feelings!

Today’s peeve might just be for women, sorry about that. Now, say you have a cold/allergies and want to bring some tissues with you. You grab one of those little “travel packs,” stick it in your purse, and go about your day. Couple hours later you need a tissue, or two or three. You open the pack and conveniently take a few and seal the pack back up with the sticky tab. Allergies clear up but return a week later. You get out the tissue pack, but the sticky thing has come undone and the first tissue is all messed up. You toss it and take the next one. The pack will no longer seal because the tab has lost all its stickiness, so you tuck it in the bottom of your purse and hope for the best. However! The next time you need a tissue and fish the pack out of your purse, all the tissues are shredded and ruined.

We can send a guy to the moon, but we can’t invent a tissue pack that stays properly closed until the last tissue? Argh!

  1. This is indeed an irritating issue of tissue

  2. My peeve…people that disregard the rules. In Ontario we were to spend Thanksgiving with our immediate household. Someone I know disregarded this and also belittled the fact that going into a packed store the other day freaked me out.

  3. BWAHAHAHAH!!! So very very true! I tend to carry around hard candy or Mentos ™ in my bag in case my blood sugar crashes, and somehow even the wrapped hard candy gets stuck to those stupid tissues. Double Uggghh!

  5. I’ve had that happen. It’s such a waste and very inconvenient when you need one. I’ve since just folded a bunch of tissues from a regular box, and put them in a ziplock bag to take with me. Keeps them dry and unshredded. 🙂

  7. I don’t carry a purse anymore. I kept getting bigger and bigger purses, and carrying more stuff! Now I just carry a big wallet & my phone🤷🏼‍♀️ But I agree the sticky things never stay sticky on ANYTHING! The tissue issue is annoying too, cuz there’s only about 6 or 7 tissues in the darn thing to begin with. I just shove a bunch in my pockets whenever I leave.
Amazing that they can survive the washer & dryer, but can’t survive the bottom of a purse 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️

      • I’ve been an antisocial hermit longer than just lockdown. I don’t go anywhere except the store & the doctor. I dont need all the things anymore🤷🏼‍♀️ I understand the need though. I totally would’ve won on Lets Make A Deal when they ask for random stuff. I used to have EVERYTHING… very organized in smaller bags and pouches 😉😂😂😂

  8. I hear you. This is why I use cloth handkerchiefs. I only use each one for one day and then they go into the wash. I do not use them if I have a cold but for allergies causing a runny nose.
