Smiles and positive posts are all well and good, but sometimes I need to vent a bit. How about you? That’s what The Monday Peeve is all about, a chance to blow off a little steam at the beginning of the week, so then we can go merrily on our way once again (hah). I’ll pick a topic that’s on my mind, but you can vent about whatever you please, here in comments or on your own blog. Grab the photo, use the TMP tag, link back to me (or not), and Bob’s yer uncle. I do reserve the right to delete any links that offend my delicate sensibilities. So far, none have, but it could happen. I have feelings!
My peeve today is about masks and safety. What the hell is wrong with people that they REFUSE TO WEAR A MASK?!?!! I’m not talking about the idiots in the Rose Garden because they apparently believed that God was watching out for them or something. I’m talking about ordinary people going about their public biz. Where I live, stores and offices REQUIRE masks to walk in the door. The management team in our office building has sent repeated memos about the necessity of face coverings and there are signs all over the place. Yet there are still people walking around without masks. It’s maddening! 😱
Maybe things will change this week after the Rose Garden fiasco. Anyone can get infected. ANYONE. Protect yourself, your loved ones, your friends and coworkers, and your community by wearing a mask in public… why is this controversial? I don’t understand why people have to be such jerks. 🙁
Oh, any comments about conspiracies, breathing in your own air, or other wackadoodlery will be DELETED. 😡

I think that people have been watching too many movies. Is that fair?

Hmm… and it’s influencing them not to stay safer?

Yes. I have never seen Matrix, but I believe that is one film that gets viewers to question everything they thought was true.
I don’t know Paula….to me it is so simple – infectious disease – wash hands, quarantine, don’t get too close, and if the government ask you to, wear a face-mask. I don’t see why some people think it is a hoax. Infectious diseases are real and have been around for a long time. There are simple safety measures we can take to protect ourselves and others. It is not rocket science.

It’s a mystery for me too…why people refuse to wear masks? Why?

Here, I think it was partly because of our terrible “leadership” in Washington DC. Partly, like Caramel says, because some Americans feel invincible, due to myths and movies

I dislike the people who go around with the attitude that they are not safer by wearing a mask and they think the only people who should wear a mask are the doctor’s and nurses or anyone who is in contact with infected people.

That’s because you don’t have a government promoting cooperation or countering all the conspiracy theories out there (and I am so sorry you do have wingnuts mixed in with your rightwings). In countries where the conspiracy nuts are not members of the governing party, people do as they’re told because they trust their leaders, and they trust their leaders because the leaders listen to the scientists. Because everybody in charge agrees, it’s easier to get all the folks not in charge to also agree.

Yes, it’s very possible God was watching those people in the Rose Garden. Remember when Maude used to say, “God’ll get you for that, Walter?” It appears that He has already gotten many of them for that.

I have no idea. In Colorado marks are required everywhere. Here in Wyoming about half the people do, usually not children, now THAT is idiotic! There is NO social distancing.

I see masks everywhere, but i only go to the store, my doctor & to drop Older at work, a hospital.
I’m with you on the peeve! The deniers and idjits caused Ben’s school to stay closed longer than it needed to be. I hate selfish jerks! Maskless folks are like drunk drivers… lower than cockroaches
