The Monday Peeve 22

Monday Peeve kitty

Smiles and positive posts are all well and good, but sometimes I need to vent a bit. How about you? That’s what The Monday Peeve is all about, a chance to blow off a little steam at the beginning of the week, so then we can go merrily on our way once again (hah). I’ll pick a topic that’s on my mind, but you can vent about whatever you please, here in comments or on your own blog. Grab the photo, use the #TMP tag, and link back to me (or not ~ I dgaf), and Bob’s yer uncle. I do reserve the right to delete any links that offend my delicate sensibilities. So far, none have, but it could happen! I have feelings!

What’s with the dickheads who respond to me in other bloggers’ comments? Rarely, if ever, do they have anything nice to say. They only pop up like demented clowns to criticize. Um, hello, jerko, I don’t know you, so what makes you think I care what you have to say about my response to Fandango or Lydia or whomever?

I’ll tell you why they don’t simply write a new comment directly to the blogger ~ it’s because they’re attention whores. They need me to see that they have something critical to say about what I wrote, so they make sure I get a notification. Idiots. I try never to engage with them.

This is part of the reason I left Facebook: friends of friends who insisted on arguing with me over scraps of nothing. I had some friends who collected these people like garden weasels, ready to snap at anyone’s ankles who wandered by. I’d block them, but there were always new ones. It made the entire experience unpleasant, aside from the constant privacy and data issues.

Strangers with opinions! Grrrrr. Go away. No, I don’t want to turn these strangers into friends, thanks. I already have enough friends with annoying opinions. 🤣

  2. You need a virtual whack-a-mole whacker to bop the demented clowns on the head.

  3. I’m not sure how I ever made it through the Usenet phase. But it did teach me, after arguing back with people, that I didn’t really need to do that, as you say.

    • I think, for me, Usenet was a necessary step in my evolution from meek Stepford doormat through snarling tiger who pounced on everything to tranquil cloud. STAY OFFA IT!

      • I agree it was an interesting phase–probably beneficial in the long run. It certainly helped me to write more precisely due to all the . . . erm . . . feedback, plus it was fun trying to come up with a humorous response to just about anything.

  4. I don’t think that I have any of these clown or garden weasels, or maybe I am just mot paying enough attention. I say send in the clowns and I will kick the s,,t out of them.

  6. Here’s my contribution on an ‘(in)edible’ peeve:

I’ve recently responded to someone’s comment on someone else’s blog. What the comment-or, er? wrote was funny and I thanked them for making me laugh aloud.

Now being mean or sarcastic or spewing bile all over someone else’s comment section is vile and highly unmannerly I agree. Your approach of ‘no contact jerk-o, I don’t know YOU’ is possibly the best way to deal with ‘attention whores’. And sorry if my response to someone else, somewhere else makes me one too. 😦 We all make blunders..

  7. Good Monday Peeve 🙂 On WP few that type knocked on my door – since comments gain page exposure by approval I placed those few in trash – best place for them. If a person can’t say anything nice, I believe said person should remain silent. Now with regard to dating apps – could write a book on received inappropriate comments. 🙂

  9. I think some people take the opportunity to vent in a comment, may not even be in context. I’ve experienced it once and I simply do not read her at all anymore. Her comments on other posts I do read, I just skip over her part.
