The Monday Peeve 14

Monday Peeve cat

Smiles and positive posts are all well and good, but sometimes I need to vent a bit. How about you? That’s what The Monday Peeve is all about, a chance to blow off a little steam at the beginning of the week, so then we can go merrily on our way once again (hah). I’ll pick a topic that’s on my mind, but you can vent about whatever you please, here in comments or on your own blog. Grab the photo, use the #TMP tag, and link back to me (or not ~ I dgaf), and Bob’s yer uncle. I do reserve the right to delete any links that offend my delicate sensibilities. So far, none have, but it could happen! I have feelings!

Spam again! This is of the textual variety. So, I give the pet store my phone number to text my receipt because that’s convenient for me. No piece of paper wadded in my purse, ya know? Less waste! I’m all about that waste, that waste. 🎶

But then they start pestering me on a daily basis about their stupid specials. I mean, how freaking clueless is this? I’m not gonna go running back there 20 times a week every time they mark down cat treats ten cents a package. For Pete’s sake! Inevitably, I have to completely block them, which is so dumb. Why can’t these businesses get a grip? No one wants to be bombarded with constant texts about sales at the pet store, or any store. It’s just such an idiotic way to do marketing. I’m so mad at them now.

My dentist, on the other hand, texts a couple times a year to remind me of my appointments and maybe one or two other things, like teeth whitening for Valentine’s Day. Well, he’s not a moron. 😁

  1. They are so desperate for business. 🤬

  2. I have an email account that I use for things like this. I give all businesses that email and only glance at it once a week or if I need something. I give very few businesses my personal email. Same goes with the phone – I do not give my cell and I do not answer my landilne. Ever. Win/win.

  3. You’d think they’d realize that harassing customers to that extent is going to have the opposite effect from what they’re intending.

  4. Ha ha excellent 🙂

It’s no different here, you think that something small isn’t going to have this huge chain reactive marketing effect and yet – worldwide businesses disappoint. They need to read Seth Godin’s views on ‘Intrusive and Invasive’ marketing to realise they are making a huge colossal error with this shite.

  5. I was more than surprised the other day when the shop owner asked me if I needed a receipt sent to me. When I said yes, thinking I’ll give her my infrequently used email, my phone pinged! I hadn’t given my number out but apparently the card is linked to my phone (courtesy of the bank). I wasn’t happy!

  7. Somehow my phone number is linked to my debit card, and in some cases I’ll get a receipt without asking for it, as well as subsequent spam. Regulations or laws or something need to catch up with this!

PS: I do have a junk email acct. that I have added to my cell phone mail app as well as my desktop PC.
PPS: This would all stop if texts and emails cost $0.01 each, across the board, along with some way to keep businesses from skirting around it. Personally, this would cost ME about $0.10 a week, and stop spam altogether. Of course unfortunately only a dictatorship or Nazi regime of some sort could accomplish this.

  9. My peeve today is people who get pets and leave then alone, probably caged, all day. I’ve been heartbroken hearing a dog around me in one of the apartments, cry for over 24 hours. Where is the owner? This is blatant cruelty.

  10. I love this Cat! ❤️

  11. I hear ya! I’ve got so many texts messages over the last week alone, I spent nearly an hour last night deleting them all.
Although… Now, just today… They ceased sending them. Yay!!! 🤗

  13. I recently bought a few things on Amazon, which I am satisfied with but now a day does not go but where they email me something that they think I would like to buy. I don’t want to block them in case I do decide to buy some more stuff from them, but I am tired of all their SPAM.
