Faded Feelings

I’m not one of those

Who would climb any mountain

Long after the romance is done.

When you said it was over,

My love faded like photos

Left to dry and curl in the dust.

My tears dripped in the river,

Merged into grey days,

And now my feelings are gone.

I can’t conjure them back up

With an abracadabra and

Reanimate them out of whole cloth.

You get only one chance;

It should be more than enough.
