In the beginning
Every kiss
Was meltingly delicious;
Each moment spent together,
And the future glimpsed,
Glittered like treasure.
Then life got in the way
And love’s silvery magic
Faded to mundane grey,
Until it disappeared like mist.
It’s always like this–
I’ve never known different.

Beautifully put! And sad, but true. It’s why I prefer the slow burn, the steady build up to something deeper. Ocean liner versus rocket.
