I did karaoke once. That was enough, for me, and for everyone else’s aural health. I think I had conjured up a romantic idea of the experience from movies such as 27 Dresses and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Supposedly, you can impulsively grab a microphone and start belting out a song without any preparation, and even if you don’t have a great voice and are somewhat off-key, you’ll still sound okay and look adorable. π
Wrong! You have to start with a decent voice, know the song, especially when to start and stop, and have a sense of music generally. Which I do not. Otherwise you’re just filling the room with a cacophony of noise. It’s not fun for me to remember how awful I must have been. π
Though they don’t even know, I accept the gratitude of all future ears I won’t harass with my terrible “singing.” πΆππΆ
At least you tried. I never had the guts to do so.

I was with friends and did duets, but yes I will do things like that once. Not athletic things though! π±

I was reject from chorus in elementary school. I consider it an act of kindness to the human race to never do karaoke. I’m brave (or dumb) enough, just a really horrible singer.π

Yes, I agree it is a caring act NOT to inflict any more of my singing on the unsuspecting public! π

If there was one thing I wish I was good at, it would be singing in tune. Sadly, I never could. I’ve also never been to a place that had karaoke, either. We do have a little machine here at home we mess around with, though. π

Damn, I give you a hell of a lot of credit… I use to sing, and I still don’t do karaoke. This was such a great little story!!!

That is a very amusing take on the word karaoke.
It doesn’t matter if you can’t sing as well as some people
They can’t write as well as you.

I’ve sung in choir and got good enough to not embarrass anybody, but the really main thing about karaoke is that you actually have to already know the song! And I never do. π

Iβve also decided to never subject a roomful of strangers to listen to me sing out of tune, even though I know they wonβt stand up and walk out on me. I do like hearing you sing though. I have fond memories of hearing Knock Three Times.

Some of that night was fun! But not when Cathy and I didnβt know when to start our song at all. There were no words. π³
