The Key

Holding the key,

He is oblivious

To its significance;

To him, it’s just a trinket,

A shiny bit of nothing,

That caught his clever eye.

He snatched it from the grass,

Wet with morning tears,

And dropped it in the sea,

When a glittering ring

Glinted up from the stones

On this wild windy beach.
