Waiting

I wait for the one who waited for me.

Darkness comes so early
The restless nights grow cold
My spirit sinks down weary
How bereft my tortured soul

I wait for the one who waited for me.

I know now he took no other
His true heart was mine alone
Still, the jealous monsters hovered
And the waves are washing home

I wait for the one who waited for me.

Our love floats on, a ghost
Like the eternal crashing sea
Sirens rage up and down the coast
As we all wait
For the one
Who waited
For
Me.
