Song Lyrics Sunday: Take

Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away” came to me pretty quickly after I saw Helen’s prompt of take. I’ve always found Terry Nunn’s singing very haunting, and it’s cool that the band is originally from Orange County, California. (According to Wikipedia, they had nothing to do with Germany but decided a foreign city sounded exotic as a band name.)

“If only for today
I am unafraid”

Watching every motion
In my foolish lover’s game
On this endless ocean
Finally lovers know no shame
Turning and returning
To some secret place inside
Watching in slow motion
As you turn around and say
Take my breath away
Take my breath away
Watching I keep waiting
Still anticipating love
Never hesitating to become the fated ones
Turning and returning
To some secret place to hide
Watching in slow motion
As you turn to me and say
Take my breath away
Through the hourglass I saw you
In time you slipped away
When the mirror crashed I called you
And turned to hear you say
If only for today
I am unafraid
Take my breath away
Take my breath away

  1. How can I not love this song?
I like the song anyway, but it also brings back memories of a teenage me watching Top Gun and feeling my hormones do fireworks. Way back then before TC seemed to turn into an absolute wally!
