The Demon’s Garden

There’s a tangled path
Under scant moonlight;
Stars don’t dare
Shine their face in here.
Musky herbs,
Long-dead roses…
Watch your step
On the slippery stones.
Oaks’ withered arms
Stretch in ancient welcome;
While a lone owl screams
To stay away.
Further down,
A shallow pond
May or may not
Contain my lover’s bones.

Would you like
To take a stroll?
